Biography

Dr Alexandra Chung is a Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer with the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food, Monash University.

Alexandra currently holds a VicHealth Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. Her Fellowship research is focused on food marketing targeting children and their parents, and policy options to reduce the harmful impacts of this marketing. This program of work builds upon Alexandra's PhD research which advanced understanding of the trends, determinants and current approaches to address socioeconomic inequalities in childhood obesity in Australia. 

An Accredited Practising Dietitian, Alexandra has extensive experience in public health nutrition, developed throughout her career spanning nutrition and dietetics practice, education and research. Her research interests include childhood obesity prevention, health equity, and the role of policy to equitably improve children's diets. 

University Service

Alexandra was featured in Monash University’s Agents of Change Campaign in 2018, promoting the role of women in science and advocating for health equity research. In 2021 she was as an invited thought leader in the Societal and Behavioural Research Group for the Monash Commission - The Liveable Metropolis: The future role of intermediary cities to deliver resilience, impact, and prosperity.
