Adefolake holds a PhD in law from the National University of Singapore (NUS), LLM from the University of Cambridge and LLB (First class Honours) from the University of Buckingham. She is also attorney at law, New York State and associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK.

Prior to joining the Law Faculty at Monash, Adefolake taught as an adjunct at the Faculty of Law, NUS; Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University; and Singapore Management University.

Her research interests include corporate social responsibility, corporate law and governance. Her book, Corporate Social Responsibility of Multinational Corporations in Developing Countries: Perspectives on Anti-Corruption was published by Cambridge University Press in 2012.
