Biography

Dr. Abdulbasit Seid is an early career health researcher focusing on evidence translation, women's health, and maternal and child health. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and a degree in clinical midwifery from the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. His expertise includes family violence and maternal and child health, with a particular emphasis on applying research to enhance health outcomes for women and children.

Throughout his career, Dr. Seid has held various roles in academic and research institutions, contributing significantly to the development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence, particularly through evidence-based guidelines. He has been involved in developing guidelines for the growth, health, and developmental follow-up of children born very preterm. Currently, he serves as an evidence officer, playing a key role in the team responsible for developing the Australian living guidelines for pregnancy and postnatal care.

Dr. Seid has a solid background in collaborating on research initiatives both locally and globally, having contributed to projects in Australia, Ethiopia, and beyond. In addition to his research roles, he has held several administrative positions, including Chief Administration and Development Director for the College of Health and Medical Sciences at Haramaya University, a member of the national board of the Ethiopian Midwives Association, and President of the Ethiopian Midwives Association's Harari Chapter.
