The Monash Energy Institute is working to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable energy future through impactful interdisciplinary research and education for Monash University and its trusted partners.

The Monash Energy Institute is a community of researchers and practitioners from across the University who are working to accelerate the energy transition towards a reliable, affordable and sustainable energy future.

The Institute brings together researchers from different disciplines including behavioural economics, energy systems, and data science to address major global problems through impactful initiatives including, Net Zero Initiative and the Microgrid Living Laboratory, the Monash Grid Innovation Hub, the Woodside Monash Energy Partnership, the RACE for 2030 CRC, and the Centre for New Energy Technologies (C4NET).

We support fundamental research through collaboration with the ARC Centres of Excellence dedicated to innovative energy research. And trusted industry partnerships underpin Monash Energy Institute’s vision to solve global energy problems.

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
