What is next for Australian Pop Music and the Charts?

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

Despite producing some of the most successful musical artists of the 20th century it seems that modern Australian music might not be being represented in our own charts.
Between 2010-2019 the top 100 singles in the ARIA charts featured only 11 Australian and New Zealand acts and only 12 songs from the countries combined.

Are we not supporting our own artists as much as foreign acts, is there anything we can do beyond buying/streaming new bands?
Joining us to speak from an academic perspective is Dr Rod Davies who is a performance and composition teacher from Monash University.
