In this episode Danni is talking with Dr. Shelley Turner from Monash University, in Melbourne, Australia, about her inspiring and challenging journey through her PhD. Shelley talks about her battle with thyroid cancer, having two children while struggling to finish her PhD dissertation. Shelley also talks about her research topic of how youth justice clients understand and experience case management, from their own perspectives to which she came from a 15 year long career as a social worker. In this episode Shelley drank Drambuie, and Danni drank Amaretto. 

 

Shelley Turner is a Senior Lecturer and Early Career Researcher in Social Work in the School of Primary and Allied Health Care at Monash University.  Shelley currently teaches and researches in social work and criminology. Prior to commencing her academic career in 2015, she worked for more than 15 years in direct practice, clinical management and senior executive policy officer and project roles in youth justice in New South Wales and Victoria.
