In several experiments, people who were made to contemplate occupying a low socio-economic status were subsequently more interested in consuming meat (beef jerky, pork tacos, beef burgers). There was no such effect for veggie burgers, and the effect was concentrated in those who perceived a larger gap between rich and poor.
