The AFL's Indigenous Round, it needs to be more than tokenistic

    Press/Media: Expert Comment

    Description

This article suggests that the AFL's Indigenous Round does not fully embrace the Indigenous contribution to Australian Rules football. The game is played in a park which was a meeting place for Indigenous peoples before white settlement. There is no recognition of this or indeed the Indigenous players that have graced the game. The article suggests that the Melbourne Cricket Club and AFL create an Avenue of Honour to Indigenous footabllers and better acknowledge the substantial Indigenous contribution to the game's foundations.
