Dr Shane and I discuss my latest work in which my group identified a potential new therapy to slow the development of diabetic kidney disease. Inhibition of the Complement 5a receptor is responsible for inflammation and renal fibrosis and the new drug PMX-53 is protective to the kidneys in the diabetic setting.
