Resulting from linked database research from the Victorian Emergency Minimum Dataset (VEMD) and Ambulance Victoria, we demonstrated that reformulation of prescribed opioids that was designed to prevent crushing for snorting or injection likely contributed to the increased use of heroin and subsequent overdoses in people who used in Victoria.
