The national study, led by the Monash University’s faculty of education, interviewed more than 500 Australians between 18 and 24.
It found nine in 10 experienced some level of financial difficulty, and four in 10 feared they may not have a comfortable place to live in the next 12 months. One in five experienced food insecurity. The barometer also found a high level of work insecurity and casualisation amongst young people. Some 44% experienced unemployment in the past year, rising to 50% of youth who’d participated in the gig economy. More than four out of five were seeking additional training or advice to improve their odds of pursuing a career.Producer/Author Caitlin Cassidy URL https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2023/nov/13/australia-politics-live-monique-ryan-lobbyists-question-time-anthony-albanese-peter-dutton-cost-of-living-gaza?page=with:block-65516ed88f08f02e9fecba97 Persons Lucas Walsh, Blake Cutler
