Launch of book ‘Social Work Practice in Health: An introduction to contexts, theories and skills'

Description

On this World Social Work Day, St Vincent’s celebrates the great work our social workers do every day.

“I’m a social worker and a senior research fellow in mental health and have worked for St Vincent’s for 10 years now. Today we launched a book called ‘Social Work Practice in Health: An introduction to contexts, theories and skills.’ As the editor of the book, I brought together a team of practitioners and researchers, including four social workers from St Vincent’s, to put together a core teaching textbook to be used in social work departments at Universities across Australia and New Zealand. Today is World Social Work Day and I say to all social workers that we should be proud of the contributions we make within a multidisciplinary team in health environments looking after people’s social needs and their connections to community and their recovery.”—Melissa Petrakis #StVincents #WSWD18
