Empowering a circular future in Australia and the wider region

Press/Media: Profile/Interview

Description

As part of Monash Sustainable Development Institute’s (MSDI) commitment to helping Australia achieve a net zero future, the Institute’s work in the circular economy domain is an area of key focus, investment and priority.

Dr Martin Geissdoerfer joins MSDI from Germany as Associate Professor of Circular Economy Transitions to help consolidate the Institute’s extensive expertise in this area. With the aim of setting up a flagship foundation in this space that will lead transformative change in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, Martin’s wide experience in Europe – currently the hub for circular innovation – will be crucial to establishing this goal.

Martin's research investigates circular economy transitions and sustainability strategy, with a special focus on the role of business model innovation and ecosystems. His expertise has been sought out by global Fortune 500 companies and policymakers and his definition of circular economy is widely cited and adopted across academia and practise.

We sat down with Martin and asked him about his thoughts on a circular economy.
