    Drawing largely on the Essendon supplement and Melbourne tanking controversies, this article examines how the AFL uses its media department to manipluate football stories and protect the brand. The article argues that the AFL now controls its product from the point of production to distribution, giving it the capacity to manipulate media stories on football.
