DescriptionInterview with Michael Fitzharris, Associate Professor, Monash University Accident Research Centre. Elliott says the EU is considering that vehicles have interlock devices and speed limiters from 2022 onwards. Fitzharris states the EU is trying to create a template for the future car. He says it is an advance notice to manufacturers that the regulations will come. He discusses the two separate types of devices, which are advisory ISA system and intervening ISA system. Elliott states there was a time when he had to accelerate speed beyond the speed limit because a car behind him was moving fast. Fitzharris says these things fit under the Australian Design Rules which are the responsibility of the Federal Government.
