Cat Hope

Press/Media: Profile/Interview

Description

Professor Cat Hope is Head of the Sir Zelman Cowan School of Music at Monash University. She's also a composer and noise artist and her recent Peggy Glanville Hicks lecture on women's participation in music at all levels makes sobering reading. She crunches the hard data - about the gender pay gap, men's over-representation in leadership positions, female composers' under-representation in concert programs and so on. But there's progress afoot says Hope and she'll outline the positive news on today's Music Show. And discuss her new opera Speechless, about children in immigration detention.
