50 Years of Life's Littlest Miracles

Press/Media: Article/Feature

Description

MORE than 50 years after Melbourne scientists set out to make medical history, one of Australia’s first IVF babies met some of Victoria’s newest IVF arrivals to celebrate the researchers who gave them the gift of life.

Carla Polson was Australia’s third IVF baby – and just the fifth in the world – when she was born in Melbourne in 1981.

She was named after the late Professor Carl Wood, who worked with Professor John Leeton to establish Melbourne’s first IVF clinical program.
