Description
scienceXart: Food for Thought will support and celebrate 2021 United Nations International Year of Fruit and Vegetables. The competition is designed for Australian primary school students, who will be challenged to create a plate of food from art, craft or other materials, and describe the nutrition science behind their creation. By combining science and art, this competition will celebrate and showcase the importance of nutrition science to the next generation of scientists.scienceXart 2021 will be hosted by the National Committee of Nutrition (NCN), represented by a small number of members on an expert working group.
The competition will be developed and managed by the Academy, with guidance of the working group working and through consultation with the Academy’s education teams, PrimaryConnections and Science by Doing.
Primary Connections is a flagship primary school science program from the Australian Academy of Science. It is an innovative approach to teaching and learning which aims to enhance primary school teachers' confidence and competence for teaching science.
Science by Doing is supported by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment. I engages students with Science.
