Description
Workshop AbstractQuantum technologies (QT) have been rapidly emerging as a strategically important set of technologies for many actors globally. Globally, more than €50B of (mostly public) investment has been promised for the development of QT, with a particular focus on quantum computers, which poses a threat to the current cryptographic infrastructure of many critical digital services.
Since QT is expected to be disruptive and has a considerable societal impact and a high amount of public investments, there have been calls to develop ethical and responsible governance principles and practices on how to develop and deploy QT in our societies globally. This workshop on responsible quantum technologies aims to bring together players and actors from states with emerging and more established QT initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region (especially from ASEAN members). We consider this a perfect opportunity to explore critical issues around intra-regional and inter-regional cooperation, collaboration, diplomacy, geopolitics, and security around QT.
