P. Ramlee Research Symposium convened experts from diverse fields, including Monash University Malaysia’s film and culture researchers, University of Malaya academics, musicians, filmmakers, representatives from Penang House of Music and the Penang Island Jazz Festival, film historians, critics, copyright firms, and writers. The symposium centred on the copyright complexities of P. Ramlee's films and music, labour strikes, silent narratives, and inter-ethnic engagements in films.
