Description
The workshop introduced the MUARC-TAC ECIS program and brought together representatives from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), Victoria Police, VicRoads, the Department of Justice and Community Services (Victoria), and Monash University. Representatives from the RACV, the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) and the Australian College of Road Safety (ACRS) also attended.
Overseas guests from the following organsisations attended: Swedish Transport Administration, University of Michigan, Virginia Tech, Arizona State University, and Loughborough University (UK). In total, there were 23 attendees.
The Workshop focused on ways to reduce the incidence of intersections, head-on and run-off-roaf crashes, as well as ways to reduce the severity of injuries in these crash types. The Workshop also included a detailed discussion on young driver crashes and prevention strategies and older driver crashes.
This event was the 9th in a series of nine Expert Panels. A/Prof Fitzharris led the discussions.
