    Mosquito-adapted bacterium against highly infectious mosquito-borne viruses

    Abstract: A mosquito-adapted Wolbachia pipientis var wMelCS bacterium is provided which is particularly efficacious for infecting mosquitoes that can harbour highly infectious viruses. Mosquitoes infected with the wMelCS bacterium may be released into the environment thereby preventing, reducing or eliminating a disease caused by, or associated with, the highly infectious mosquito-borne virus.
