Description

A wearable device for quantification of plantar pressure and ground-reaction forces during osteogenic exercise and physical activity

Abstract: Abstract A wearable device and method utilised to quantify plantar foot forces is described. The invention is a wearable device with a customisable layout in order to record and log data gathered via wired sensors. Data gathered includes ground-reaction forces, rate of flexion, gait characteristics and foot strike characteristics amongst others. Components include wired force sensors, microcontroller and removable micro-SD data logger. Data is constantly gathered and recorded to the device and stored on board via resilient micro-SD. Logged data allows for comprehensive analysis of forces and gait patterns experienced during exercise and physical activity.
