This webinar, presented by the Section of Youth Mental Health, brings together a panel of experts involved in improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 16–24 years who are struggling with psychological distress, depression or anxiety disorders.

The 1-hour discussion will cover: strategies for increasing engagement; shared decision making and safety planning; the place of lifestyle interventions; psychological therapies including digital options; and appropriate use of medicines.

A key focus will be the current evidence base for prescribing of SSRIs for young people with depression and anxiety. The panel will also consider non-medicine management options and how to tailor mental health management plans to an individual young person’s needs and preferences.

Facilitated by NPS MedicineWise, this webinar will include insights from the lived experience of young people, and the opportunity to provide questions to the panel.
