The African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) and the Southern African Society for Human Genetics (SASHG) hosted the ICHG in Cape Town from 22 – 26 February 2023. This was a remarkable international conference on human genetics, genomics and health with diverse, relevant and cutting-edge scientific program, numerous educational opportunities for trainees and unprecedented networking opportunities for the global community of academics, healthcare fraternity, researchers to meet and share current and future advances in this field.
This well attended congress and location in Africa, the cradle of our species, Homo sapiens was a fantastic opportunity to present the work which my PhD and I had done and served as a showcase Genetics/Genomics across the world, bringing together international experts, as well as young postgraduates addressing challenges in human health and highlighting how genomic technologies are being harnessed to address such challenges.
