Inclusion: An international Perspective

Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesContribution to conference

    Description

In 2014, Switzerland has ratified the UN Disability Rights Convention, which requires the establishment of an inclusive education system. Many Swiss cantons are currently developing their cultures, struc- tures and practices towards inclusion. In doing so, Switzerland can benefit from other countries that are more progressive in terms of inclusion. In this presentation, we will share some of the key lessons learnt from countries like Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Solomon Islands about how inclusive education policies could be implemen- ted through active involvement of the university educators. Use of the head, heart and hands framework to prepare future generation of educators that has shown promising signs in these countries will be discussed.
