Embedding Diversity and Inclusion in Teacher Education: Conversations with Victorian Museums

Activity: Community Talks, Presentations, Exhibitions and Events › Public lecture/debate/seminar

Description

Museums can be powerful partners in teaching and learning, particularly in supporting diverse, inclusive, and culturally responsive
pedagogies. This professional learning event invites educators to explore the role museums can play in enriching educational
experiences, while providing inspiration and practical strategies for incorporating museum resources into future classrooms.
At this Professional Learning event, educators will gain insights into how museum collections, exhibitions, and educational programs
can help foster equity, representation, and inclusion in teaching practice. In turn, museum representatives will have the opportunity to
connect meaningfully with the next generation of educators including pre-service teachers, early/mid-career teachers, and teacher
education academics.
This full-day event is proudly hosted by ‘Transforming ITE for Social Impact Faculty Research and Scholarship Group’ in collaboration
with the Faculty of Education at Monash University. It brings together a diverse group of Initial Teacher Educators, pre-service
teachers, and practicing teachers, along with education coordinators from a range of Victorian museums.
