Description

I was invited to participate in the Validation Workshop for the second data collection phase for the Creative Vibrancy Index for Africa as a Cultural Professional on the continent. The Creative Vibrancy Index for Africa (CVIA) is a comprehensive ranking system for African cities based on their support for arts, culture, and creative industries. In the pilot data gathering phase, we mapped 12 cities to create the index, using 22 indicators relevant to 8 dimensions reflecting three major focus areas of the cities' cultural, social, and economic vitality. The areas are Creative Economy, Cultural Vibrancy, and Enabling Environment.

This workshop is designed to validate the additional chosen indicators from an extensive literature review, which will be integrated into our ranking tools for the second iteration of data gathering for the CVIA. My expertise is engaged to assess CVIA's relevance in advocacy and insights into Africa's creative industries.
