This workshop will bring together interested researchers to discuss major gaps in our knowledge about the past, present and future of Australian newspapers, and to map out possible research agendas.

To inspire Australian researchers, a keynote on ‘Press and the Remaking of Britain 1979-2017’ will be delivered by Professor James Curran, Goldsmiths University of London.

Professor Curran has written or edited 22 books on the media. Among his classic and groundbreaking works are: Power Without Responsibility (with Jean Seaton); Media and Society; Media and Power and Media and Democracy
