This conference is the first of a new annual ACCC-Monash series, the Australian Competition Summit. The conference brings together the top leadership and senior representatives from international competition authorities, as well as economists and legal experts, to explore emerging issues in the field of competition law, economics and policy. The speakers discussed, among other topics, challenges in the areas of competition enforcement, merger control and related legislative reform, and digital markets, including artificial intelligence. In a context of increasing complexity in markets and technology, they also discussed ways of embedding economic principles and analysis in competition and merger control decision-making.
